Rocky Horror began its remarkable life not as a film, but rather as a small production in London that author Richard O'Brien wrote to keep himself busy on winter evenings when he was an out-of-work actor. Richard O'Brien was born in London in 1942, but he grew up in New Zealand where, during double features at the local cinema, he developed a lifelong passion for schlocky science fiction and B-grade horror movies, as well as classics like Dracula and Frankenstein, and Marvel Comics (especially Dr. Strange). O'Brien narrowly escaped a considerably less glamorous life as a cheese farmer in New Zealand by moving back to his native London to make a go at an acting career. After performing small roles in the films "Carry On Cowboy and Casino Royale, O'Brien landed a role in Hair and made one disastrous but fateful performance in Jesus Christ Superstar. Although he didn't cut it in the role of King Herod, O'Brien had the opportunity to present his 3-chord rock musical entitled They Came From Denton High to Superstar's director Jim Sharman, who was asked to do a play in the main house of the Royal Court Theater . Sharman remarked that he would like to do that, but wanted some time in the tiny upstairs theater with the play O'Brien had written. There was one problem: the theater could not cover the costs of production alone, so a producer needed to be found. A tape of Richard O'Brien singing "Science Fiction/ Double Feature" (the opening song) made its way to the desk of Michael White who had produced a London version of "Oh! Calcutta !" White became fascinated with the tape and story concept, and agreed to sponsor the production. Dubbed "The Rocky Horror Show" the play was based on a combination of grade B Horror movies, Steve Reeves muscle flicks and fifties rock 'n' roll. It starred O'Brien as a maniacal handyman named Riff-Raff, and another Hair alumnus Tim Curry in the leading role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, the kinky scientist who creates "Rocky Horror", his personal Adonis. Even though Curry originally came to read for the role of Rocky, his raucous performance of Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti" made it clear he was destined to play the lead role. The play opened at the Royal Court 's experimental Theatre Upstairs as a six-week workshop project in June of 1973 to fantastic reviews and packed houses of 60 or so people a night. A good omen for Rocky Horror was that Vincent Price was amongst the opening night attendees. The show received such acclaim at this 60-seat theatre that it was quickly moved to larger quarters in a converted cinema in Chelsea . Following the movie theatre's demolition, the show found a permanent home at the 500-seat King's Road Theatre, where it is still playing to packed houses nightly. The play was named Best Musical of 1973 in the London Evening Standard's annual poll of drama critics. Approximately half the actors in this production would go on to reprise their roles in the film version. Lou Adler, an American record producer/songwriter who had co-organized the Monterey Pop Festival, was brought to the show by Britt Ekland after being awake many straight hours on a delayed British Airways flight from LA to London . Adler was immediately impressed by the show and was coincidentally at a party a few nights later where he met Michael White. Within 36 hours, Adler had secured the American rights to the show and a Los Angeles production was to be mounted. Adler invited executives from 20th Century Fox to the play and managed to secure a film deal. Filming of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW began in October, 1974, at Bray Studios, England's famous House of Horror, ' and at a 19th century chateau which served once as the wartime refuge of General Charles DeGaulle. After completing the six-week shoot, it was decided to open a run of the play on Broadway as a sort of pre-release hype, building anticipation for the film's scheduled release the following fall. The production was brought to the Belasco theater in Manhattan, a legitimate theatre which was converted to a cabaret style venue (like the Roxy) by adding tables to the floor. Unfortunately, the large size of the theater only served to destroy the intimacy which had existed at the show's previous productions. To further detriment, local critics implied that the play had no place in such a cosmopolitan area as New York . Forty five performances later, the show closed without a trace of ever having arrived. Things didn't appear much brighter on September 24th, 1975 when The Rocky Horror Picture Show had its American theatrical debut. Although the film, touted as "A Different Set Of Jaws", opened to sell-out crowds at the UA theater in Westwood Village (a college town surrounding UCLA in Los Angeles ), the story was quite dismal almost everywhere else. The film bombed in most cities, and looked to be doomed to the vaults until a strange phenomenon was observed. Although theater owners were complaining of low attendance, it seemed that a small dedicated audience was returning for repeated viewings. While the film was still running successfully in Los Angeles, Lou Adler and Tim Deegan (20th Century Fox's marketing...

Springfield, Missouri, is far removed from the glittering lights of Hollywood and New York City, so it may be the last place you think of as a thriving hub of theatrical activity. However, this city—the third largest in Missouri—has a rich theater history. Springfield has been the starting place for many acclaimed actors, including silent film actress Pearl White, of “Perils of Pauline” fame, and more recently Kyle Dean Massey, John Goodman, Kathleen Turner, Jack Laufer and Tess Harper. Here are the top five theater hot spots to check out in the “Birthplace of Route 66.” Springfield Little Theatre Springfield Little Theatre at the Historic Landers Theatre. If it’s old-world charm you’re looking for, Springfield’s Landers Theatre is the place to book your next theater experience. The historic venue—built in 1909 and rebuilt in 1921 after a devastating fire—is home to the Springfield Little Theatre, Missouri’s oldest and largest civic theater operation. In 1970, Springfield Little Theatre purchased Landers Theatre and has since worked to restore the 527-seat theater back to its 1909 Baroque Renaissance elegance. The theater’s Media and Marketing Associate, Alex Scranton, said the volunteer-driven organization has been a staple in the community for 81 years. “Our shows are created by members of the Springfield community, for the Springfield community. Besides our casts, which sometimes have more than 95 performers, we also have a huge volunteer base that helps us prepare for each show, whether that be sewing costumes, building the set or promoting the show in the community. We truly are your community theater.” Springfield Little Theatre produces a season of nine plays and musicals for some 60, 000 patrons annually, but those aren’t the only options for theater-goers. Landers Theatre also features concerts and recitals by the Springfield Regional Opera and the Springfield Ballet, including its annual performance of The Nutcracker . Springfield Contemporary Theatre Springfield Contemporary Theatre. Find energetic, modern works on the cutting edge of theater production at the Springfield Contemporary Theatre. The non-profit production company, located in Downtown Springfield, performs more than 30 weekends per year. SCT is known for its high standards of theater—and its high-caliber talent. Through a partnership with the Actors’ Equity Association, the organization is able to bring notable actors to the stage, such as Broadway star Kim Crosby and Lucas Grabeel from the High School Musical franchise. “SCT’s theater seats 87 people, wrapped around three sides of the stage, which makes for an intimate experience, ” said Rick Dines, managing artistic director. “We have one of the most immersive theaters in town; you’re sitting just 16 feet from the stage. We also bring in shows that are edgier than you might find at other local theaters. Those shows are picked by the directors—the artists themselves—so they are already bringing in a passion for the material, and that passion is reflected in the productions.” Recent shows include “Xanadu, ” “Hair, ” and “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.” Gillioz Theatre The Mystery Hour at the Historic Gillioz Theatre. The Gillioz Theatre draws in a larger crowd (more than 1, 100 seats are available) looking for diverse entertainment options, from a rock concert one night to “Rocky Horror Picture Show” the next. Located on Historic Route 66, the Gillioz (pronounced gil-LOIZ) was built nearly 90 years ago. Its design reflects the Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style that was popular in the early 20th century, and its ornate interior, with Egyptian/Art Deco motif, has wowed guests for decades, including Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and Elvis. Venue manager Joy Bilyeu-Steele said the architecture and welcoming atmosphere are some of the features that set the theater apart. “The building itself is just breathtaking. I literally find something new every time I walk in. And we want you to feel like you’re part of something bigger when you’re here; this is your historic Gillioz Theatre. It belongs to the community.” The Gillioz was meant for movie premieres and vaudeville routines, and it enjoyed decades of success. However, in the 1980s and 90s, it fell into disrepair. It would take 16 years to restore The Gillioz to its former glory—it reopened in 2006 and has since hosted a steady stream of films, concerts, comics and Broadway performances. And with its back row just 100 feet from the stage, it is one of the few places you can get up close to the stars, Bilyeu-Steele said. “Knowing you’re going to be 20 feet away from Pat Benatar or Elvis Costello during a performance is an incredible experience.” Juanita K. One of the newest and largest event venues in Springfield, Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts is expansive, with a 2, 264-seat theater (including multi-level boxes and orchestra pit), as well as public and private reception areas. It is located on Missouri State University’s campus and named after the wife of well-known developer John Q. Hammons.

Janet and Brad’s car breaks down and the wholesome couple treks into the night to find a telephone. The two stand under a red can suspended by rope, and water falls on their umbrella as they huddle together. After the pair meets the “sweet transvestite” Dr. Frank ’N Furter, a cast member revs a motorcycle — a real one — near the crowd inside The AllWays Lounge. Through the smoke and glitter, the cast sings “Science Fiction/Double Feature, ” kicking off a vibrant production. Some people may be more familiar with The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Susan Sarandon and Tim Curry, the cult-classic movie adapted from the 1973 musical. Four decades after the film’s release, audiences still go to participatory midnight showings. In this production, a live band performs and actors move around the theater, singing songs and sometimes interacting with audience members. The stranded couple, Brad Majors (Owen Ever) and Janet Weiss (Renee Anderson) is in for an adventure at the mansion. They meet an alien doctor and learn to do the “Time Warp” dance. Anderson is hilarious, playing Janet with bug-eyed wonder and delivering lines such as “Oh, Brad, I’m frightened!” in an an over-the-top manner. As the somewhat straight man Brad, Ever traipses about the stage shirtless, wearing crocheted underwear. In one of the show’s funniest moments, he canoodles with Frank ’N Furter (Mac Taylor) in a bed propped onstage. Taylor imbues Frank ’N Furter with a memorably flirtatious and domineering personality. Most of the action takes place on the barroom’s front stage. But the action spreads throughout the space and sometimes actors engage audience members. The production leaves room for improvisation, making the story feel fresh. Performers hop behind the bar and at one point, Rocky (Lester Desaster) busses tables, telling an audience member, “Make sure you grab a drink during intermission.” Columbia (GoGo MacGregor) pounds a nail up her nose and then removes and licks it. The drag queen narrator (Neon Burgundy) interjects, “Let’s hurry this up. There’s a party I’m trying to get to later.” The salacious and playful action devolves into crisis when Riff Raff (Ratty Scurvics, who has one of the strongest voices of the cast) turns on Frank ’N Furter. Taylor is magnetic even when the world around him is being destroyed, one laser beam at a time. Director Dennis Monn’s Rocky Horror Show is dynamic and fun. For die-hard Rocky fans who have attended late-night showings, this production injects the experience with new energy. For those who haven’t seen a live version, this production is a worthy introduction.

‘Susan Sarandon should have been under medical supervision’ … the 1975 film, with Tim Curry, Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon. Photograph: Ronald Grant Archive Richard O'Brien, writer and actor I'd been in Jesus Christ Superstar and Hair, and was starting to think I wouldn't mind seeing a musical that appealed to me, an eternal adolescent. I loved B-movies, rock'n'roll and glam, so thought I'd do a parody – or homage – to all those things. Then Jim Sharman, the director of Jesus Christ Superstar, asked me to audition for a play at London's Royal Court. There I met Richard Hartley, who was writing its incidental music. One night, Jim brought Richard round to my place, and I sang them some of my songs, including Science Fiction/Double Feature and Hot Patootie. Jim thought they'd make a great show and called me afterwards saying: "They've asked me to do another play at the Royal Court and I've agreed – as long as they let me have three weeks' fun upstairs afterwards." So I wrote some more songs and 20 pages of dialogue. I didn't think it would be a hit. I thought we'd have our three weeks of fun on the Royal Court's upstairs stage then move on. It grew a lot in rehearsals. I'd written Science Fiction/Double Feature without a musical in mind, but it has the line: "See androids fighting Brad and Janet." Those names seemed to exemplify a clean-cut, boy-girl relationship. Brad and Janet needed their own song, so Dammit Janet went in. I think their sexual awakening is something we can all relate to, but it's not just a sexual rites of passage: when their car breaks down and they arrive at the castle, they're leaving the American dream and walking into an uncertain future. It's astonishing that the US movie industry bought into it: there we were with a fringe theatre event that hadn't even gone to the West End, and not only were we allowed to make it into a film, we also all got to star in it – with Jim directing. The only imperative from 20th Century Fox was that we include some American actors. That's why Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon play Brad and Janet – they were actually an item during filming, too. And then the whole thing nearly got canned when there was a change of head at Fox. Yet, later, this one movie would keep that studio afloat for three years. It's gone into cinema history. I think you could say it's the No 1 cult classic movie of all time. We filmed in the UK, in an old building next to the Hammer House of Horror studios. It wasn't an actual set: it was an old Victorian gothic revival house a paddock away from the studios that had been used for other films, including the horror movie The Innocents. Listed, gloomy and semi-derelict, with its owner living abroad, it was perfect for us – even if we did have to carry all our lights and technical stuff across the paddock to get to it. The birthday party for Rocky, the gold-panted creation of Dr Frank N Furter, was the most fun to film, with Peter Hinwood wrapped up in bandages in the laboratory, and all those Transylvanian extras in tailcoats. We finished filming a week before Christmas. It was freezing on set. Susan got really ill: at the end, when she sings Wild and Untamed Thing in the pool, she should have been under medical supervision. She'd had a shocking cold and was shaking with fever, but still she went on. Jim, directing, played pranks on us throughout filming. When Eddie's corpse was revealed under the dining table, it came as a real shock: none of us had been aware that it was there apart from Tim Curry – playing Dr Frank N Furter – because he was the one who had to whip the tablecloth off. Jim wanted a natural reaction. When you consider that, with the exception of Susan, it was the first movie for all of us, we made a pretty good film – and we shot it in six weeks too, without going over budget. It's flawed, there's no doubt about that. But it's allowed to be a little bit kitsch, I think, and the flaws are part of that quality. It is rather funny if we see the shadow of a boom mic somewhere. Rocky Horror was probably not the first example of gender-bending on film, but it was the most in-your-face. When Dr Frank N Furter sings "I'm just a sweet transvestite" without any apology, it was empowering for many people. And Janet singing Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me was controversial, too – a girl wanting to be sexual in a let's-get-down-and-do-it way. I like to think I'm more of a lyricist than a dramatist. My favourite Rocky Horror line is: "It's not easy having a good time." It still makes me laugh. It's pathetic but it does. And the narrator's last verse in Superheroes – "Crawling on the planet's face, some insects called the human race, lost in time, and lost in space, and meaning" – has a quasi-gravitas I find appealing. You'd think I'd have had enough of it by now, but as long as the band is cooking and the music is rocking and the audience is laughing, I'm happy as a sandboy. Richard Hartley, composer Rocky Horror is just Frankenstein with a twist. Except there's no twisting – it's rock'n'roll. Richard and I listened to the same records when we were growing up, so we just put all the things we loved in. You can hear the influences: a bit of Chuck Berry, and a bit of Rolling Stones in Sweet Transvestite. It's self-indulgent, but the songs aren't pastiche like the ones in Grease. The space only seated 50 people, but they rolled around with laughter. I've never thought it was that funny. It was done seriously – this wasn't variety-show camp. Until he was in costume, Dr Frank N Furter was a serious scientist. Then, when the high heels came out, it was liberating for him – and Tim Curry appealed to both sexes. For the film, they got in a makeup artist, Pierre La Roche, who did Bowie's makeup, but he took so long – about four hours – that Tim just did his own face. Time Warp was added during rehearsals because you need a dance number in a musical. Plus we had to pad it out: the show was only about 40 minutes. It evolved on the fly, all within three weeks. I'd dream up musical arrangements as we rehearsed and, though half the cast were vocally challenged, somehow it fell into place. It was only subversive in the sense that it was raw-edged: the music was like something by a garage band. For the film, we wanted things to be more gothic, so we got two musicians in from Procol Harum. It was sweetened for Hollywood, with strings and a brass band, too. We recorded the backing tracks in four days, and the vocals in a week. We prerecorded every song except Science Fiction, so what you see is all mimed. It would have been easier and cheaper if they'd sung live. But the whole film still cost less than $1m. I'm staggered it's such a phenomenon. The film's a bit long, and it's so slow. It wilts after an hour then picks up again. That might explain why audience participation started to play a big part at screenings – they probably got bored so they started answering back.

It premiered on October 26, 2010. It pays tribute to the 1975 film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. An EP, , accompanying the episode was released on October 19, 2010. Seven songs from The Rocky Horror Picture Show were covered in this episode. Will decides to have to the glee club perform The Rocky Horror Picture Show for the annual school musical after learning of Emma's newfound love for the cult classic. Despite Sue's usual scheming, the members of New Directions inject their distinctive style to the show's timesless tracks. As casting begins, Emma calls in Carl who auditions for the role of Eddie, much to Will's dismay. His audition song in the choir room surprises the Glee Club, and so Will gives in. As casting progresses, Will finds it hard to find the right people for the parts because the musical is very controversial. Will the musical go through as planned? Or is Will's choice and motivation to produce the school production questionable? The episode was directed by Adam Shankman and written by Ryan Murphy with assistance on the story from Tim Wollaston. Plot Carl and Emma at The Rocky Horror Picture Show The episode opens with the red lips of glee club member Santana in a black background as she sings . In the McKinley High auditorium, the New Directions members rehearse The Rocky Horror Show, singing, which is interrupted by Dr. Carl Howell, who accuses club director, Will Schuester of trying to steal his girlfriend, school guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury. The episode continues in flashback format, with Will recalling the events leading up to Carl's accusation. When Will learns that Emma and Carl attended a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show which has helped to lessen some of her obsessive–compulsive behaviors, he decides to direct a school production of the musical, with members of New Directions as the cast members. 'Sweet Transvestite' The club co-captains Finn Hudson and Rachel Berry take the lead roles of Brad and Janet. Kurt Hummel is asked to play Dr. Frank-N-Furter, but refuses. In the show, the transgender actress best known for Orange Is the New Black will be playing a "sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania, " as the song that introduces the character goes. Tim Curry originated the role when the show was The Rocky Horror Show, a theatrical production in London, in the early Seventies. Sidebar See 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' Cast Reunite for Anniversary » The actress announced the news via Instagram. "I am so honored to be a part of the Rocky Horror legacy, " she wrote. She also included the hashtags #DontDreamItBeIt, which references another song in the production, and #TransIsBeautiful. Earlier this year, Lou Adler – who produced the original Rocky Horror movie in 1975 – told Rolling Stone he was on the fence about going forward with a remake with Fox. "I don't want to do it if it's not going to live up to the way people embraced the movie over the past 40 years, " he said. "We're not casting an original script; in a way, we're casting 'Tim Curry.' So if somebody is compared to Tim, they're going to lose." The Fox version of the movie will run as a two-hour television special next fall, according to . Adler is executive-producing and High School Musical's Kenny Ortega will produce, direct and choreograph the show. Earlier this year, a 40th anniversary edition of the movie came out, as did a version of its soundtrack on vinyl. It included a version of the song "Sword of Damocles" that had previously never been available on a Rocky Horror soundtrack – the version in the actual film. "Peter Hinwood, who played Rocky, did not sing, so we dubbed him, " Adler told Rolling Stone. "It turns out that there was a version of the song that was recorded by someone from the chorus. They were playing that version in his ear for him to mimic to. And that was the soundtrack; we've been putting it on soundtracks for 40 years."

"I was in college at Indiana University and some friends of mine were like, we have to see Rocky Horror Picture Show, " Cox remembered. "We watched it on a video. I became obsessed and kept watching it. I got the soundtrack and learned all the songs. I learned the songs and the Time Warp [the movie's iconic dance number]. I knew all of this way before they asked me to do it. "It's a dream come true, " she continued. "The young adult Laverne Cox was shaped by Rocky Horror. Like so many people who felt they didn't fit in, who were outcasts, Rocky Horror was the thing. Hopefully it will be that for a new generation." The two-hour reboot will air on Fox in the fall. Can't wait to do the Time Warp again. Do you know what Cox's OITNB co-star will be doing on their hiatus?

Do you remember doing the Time Warp? We sure do, and we can’t wait to throw our own Transylvanian Convention right here in Midtown. Our screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25 are the only ones in the Detroit city limits, at the only venue where the eccentricity of the film matches the quirkiness of the space. On both nights, festivities will begin at 11 p.m. and include a costume contest and other fun surprises for our Unconventional Conventioneers. Tickets are $8. Prop bags will be available for $5 and include rice, rings, newspapers, flashlights, rubber gloves, noisemakers, toilet paper (Scott brand of course), UNBUTTERED toast, party hats, bells, and cards. Categories for the costume contest include Brad, Janet, Riff Raff, Criminologist (Narrator), Magenta, Columbia, Rocky, Eddie, Dr. Scott, plus “Best Transylvanian, ” awarded to whoever has the most detailed and authentic party-goer costume. The winner in each category will receive a Cinema Detroit pass good for 12 free tickets, one per month for the next year (some restrictions will apply). The Rocky Horror Picture Show Comedy, Musical – R – 100 min – Tickets $8 – Get tickets online Fri, October 24: 11:30 p.m. SOLD OUT Sat, October 25: 11:30 p.m. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the story of two conservative young people, Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon), whose car breaks down. Looking for a telephone to call for help, they arrive at a castle, where a bizarre party is in progress, hosted by mad scientist Frank N Furter (Tim Curry), his staff Riff Raff (Jim O’Brien), Magenta (Patricia Quinn), and Columbia (Little Nell). Furter unveils his creation, Rocky (Peter Hinwood), and complications ensue. Rocky Horror is also, to quote the original 1975 production notes, “an outrageous assemblage of the most stereotyped science fiction movies, Marvel comics, Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello outings, and rock ‘n’ roll of every vintage. Running through the story is the sexual confusion of two middle-American “Ike Age” kids confronted by the complications of the decadent morality of the ’70’s.” Although it bombed on its initial release, RHPS has screened in theaters continuously since 1976, when it was re-released and audience participation began. We are proud to keep this tradition alive in the City of Detroit, and start some new ones of our own. Come up to the lab, and see what’s on the slab at Cinema Detroit. Our Rules for the Evening THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE: Everyone, including the staff of Cinema Detroit, is here to have fun. Have YOUR fun, but let everyone else around you have THEIR fun too. 1. The throwing of rice, toilet paper, etc. is part of the fun. Just remember to throw things UP towards the ceiling. See THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE.

This event is free and open to the public. Students, faculty and community members are invited to dress up as their favorite character to participate in the accompanying activities. The cult classic began its remarkable life not as a film, but as a small production in London written by author and actor Richard O'Brien. O'Brien also performs the role of Riff Raff in the film version of Rocky Horror. The film is a tale of creation, love, hate, adventure and sex. Brad and Janet, newly engaged, stumble upon the castle of Dr. Frank N. Furter during a rainstorm. Taking refuge in the castle, they are present for the doctor's unveiling of his newest creation, Rocky. Everything goes downhill when the guests discover that Furter's motives for inviting them in are impure.

Getty Images Anyone else feeling cold and wet and just plain scared right about now? We sure are, because Fox's Rocky Horror Picture Show remake has found it's Janet! Brad! Rocky! ...Riff-Raff! Reeve Carney, who played Spiderman in Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway, will be donning the balding mullet to play creepy butler Riff Raff, and literal man candy Rocky will be played, naturally, by chiseled model Staz Nair . The TV movie, which is based on the 1975 film starring Tim Curry, , and Barry Bostwick, follows young couple Brad and Janet as they find themselves trapped in the castle of a mad scientist who has created his own man. was already announced as Dr. Frank-N-furter, but there's still a fair number of roles to fill ahead of this fall's TV movie. Who will play Riff Raff's sister-girlfriend Magenta, or the wheelchair-bound Dr. Scott, or the tap-dancing Columbia, or Columbia's biker boyfriend (and former delivery boy) Eddie? We've gone ahead and cast those other roles ourselves and we're pretty sure we nailed it and that all of these actors will gladly take the job: Magenta: : Her current sexy image combined with her Disney Channel past might be absolutely perfect for this part. Santana was one of two Magentas when Glee attempted a stage production, and she didn't do too shabby. Also we just miss Naya Rivera. Can't you see it though? She's so good at the creepy dance moves and she seems like someone who'd have a ball in a show like this. Michael Loccisano/Getty Images for iHeartMedia Columbia: Why did we automatically picture Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato in these roles? We don't know, but we don't hate it. Imagine how incredible her livetweeting would be if she were IN the production! Did you see her in Trainwreck? She can do anything! Eddie: There is no way you can listen to "Hot Patootie—Bless My Soul" without immediately being able to hear Jack Black singing it. The guy who plays Bevers in Broad City: His name is John Gemberling. Leslie Jones: Because she's great, so why the hell not? Dr. Scott: Kenan Thompson: Just think of the facial expressions he'll pull in the "Janet! Dr. Scott! Janet! Brad! Rocky!" scene. Christine Baranski: We may never be able to get this image out of our heads (in a good way). Tom Selleck: The king of mustaches would truly shine in this role (and in a nice pair of fishnets). As for the Criminologist, who is also yet to be cast, we have only one suggestion: Helen. Effing. Mirren.
