Granting that it was ninety degrees outside yesterday, with an overnight low of about fifty-nine, you’d almost think summer was already here; technically, it’s still three weeks away. But, we’ll take it. And, nice and warm as it was, a massive number of people [not to be confused with a number of massive people] showed up for the film, each wearing very little; we’re okay with that.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that my DigiCam’s been sucking, since it’s eight years old. So I gave up and left it at home. Probably, Peter got some decent shots through the course of the night. Personally, having grabbed a Motorola Droid with a 5MP PhoneCam in it the other day, I gave that a bit of a testrun too.

That didn’t work remarkably well. It may be five megapixels, but it’s still fundamentally a PhoneCam. So a fair percentage of those five million pixels per shot are a bit blurred. Still, they’re uploaded and available in the entry below.

It could have been worse; it just also coulda been better. On the subject: I tried getting some video too; that wasn’t better; I’m not even bothering to upload it.

What did work out was posting to twitter.com/DenverRHPS in realtime. At least until I ran out of realtime and had to get back to getting shots with the phone. I should have been able to tweet up images as I was getting them too, but something jammed up and kept whimpering that I couldn’t upload images while uploads were in progress…not that they apparently were. So that’s something to figure out before the next show, in June.

Looking at DenverRockyHorror.com on a phone with a screen the size of a playingcard, for both sorrow and pain at once, I’m kinda thinking toward a mobile version of the site. Technologically, that’s easy enough to set up: tell the server to peek at the browser and screenmode and whatever, and as needed replace the theme with a smaller, simpler version. What I’m not sure about yet is what a smaller, simpler version should look like; that’s something to ponder a bit. Meanwhile, if you’re on a Droid or an iPhone or whatever mobile browser, you probably already know how to zoom in and scroll around to read this text at more than a millimetre in height. It sucks to have to do that, I know; but, as of this writing, you kinda have to do that. At least until I work out a serverside bugfix, making this whole paragraph kinda meaningless.

So, let’s talk about June.

The show being monthly, always on the final Friday, themenights haven’t been happening lately. And that’s something of a pity. So, by popular demand, June’s show gets to be a themenight. And, since it’s by popular demand, the theme is the ever popular Bondage Night.

How Bondage Night Works:

1. Show up wearing electrical tape or less.
2. ???
3. Profit.

Okay, so it’s a little more complex than that. And arguably a bit negotiable. But think of it as Halloween, in June, with a general leather&rope motif. Handcuffs encouraged. Slavetrading overlooked, at least until someone calls in Amnesty International. That sort of thing. And, if you see someone calling Amnesty International: capture him and whip him into submission; no one likes a spoilsport.

At a guess, as we move through June, toward the twenty-fifth, someone’ll set up a Bondage HowTo on the messageboard to help those who aren’t professional LatexGimps with shopping and arranging and learning to cry gracefully and whatever; keep an eye out for that.

Meanwhile, we’ll see [the parts of] you [not covered by electrical tape] in four short weeks….
